Excise Goods Registration
  • Service Description
    Through this service, the FTA registers excise goods on the Excise Goods List.
  • Channels and working hours
    E-services platform:
    24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Service Fees Details
  • Estimated Time to Submit Application
    45 Minutes.
  • Estimated Time to Complete Application by the FTA
    20 business days from the date the completed application was received.
  • Required Documents and Forms
    • Good’s details.
    • Details of the good’s components.
    • Pictures of the good and its label.
    • Marketing campaign details (if any).
    • Product Conformity Certificate from the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.
    • Details of the good’s price.

    Food Product Label Assessment certificate be issued by the municipality of the respective Emirate, except for the case where the good is registered for re-export to outside the state.

  • Procedures and Steps
    1. Sign-up for an e-Services account through the FTA’s website and activate it.
    2. Access the e-Services account dashboard.
    3. Access the “EXCISE TAX” tab.
    4. Click on “Excise goods that require Customs clearance (EX201)”.
    5. Click on “Item Search”.
    6. Click on “Request to Add Product to the FTA list”.
    7. Complete the good addition process.
  • FAQs

    1. What is the GTIN?

    The GTIN is the global trade identification number also known as the Barcode, printed with lines and numbers on the goods itself

     

    2. Will any pictures of the good be accepted as a supporting document?

    The images shall be clear and the information on the label shall be readable, the background shall preferably be white. Further details on the requirements are available on BrandSync Knowledgebase for Goods Registration, which also includes videos and other clarifications

     

    3. Is the good subject to Excise Tax?

    If the good matches any of the definitions mentioned in Cabinet decision 52 of 2019 on Excise Goods, Excise Tax Rates and the Methods of Calculating the Excise Price, it will be subject to Excise Tax. It is possible to also inquire about the good by sending the good’s information and pictures to RSP@tax.gov.ae in case of the inability to classify the good

  • Terms & Conditions
    1. All goods must be registered using the Global Trade Item Number and (GTIN) and Barcode.
    2. Goods must be registered as single units, not packs or promotional packs (more than one good).
